Having Trouble Getting Things Done? Try pairing these two techniques to be more productive than ever!
Focus, Intention, Effort. Those three things are key to making progress and producing quality work. In a distracted world, it's easy to lose focus. That's why we like to use the Pomodoro Technique. It's easy to use no matter where you are.
Decide what task you're going to work on.
Set a timer for 25 minutes and for that time completely focus on the task at hand.
When the timer is up take a 5 minute break.
Repeat 4x or until task is complete then take a 20-40 minute break.
That's it! During those 5 minute breaks:
Use the bathroom
Grab a drink or small snack
Stretch
Meditate
During that 20-40 minute break:
Go for a walk
Get in a workout
Eat a meal
Batch activities (Check e-mail, make phone calls, or check social media (If you must).
This technique pairs perfectly with the Ivy Lee Method:
At the end of each work day write down the six most important things you need to accomplish tomorrow. NO MORE THAN SIX!
Prioritize those six items in order of importance.
The next day concentrate only on the first task until it's done, then move on to the second task.
If you have any items on the list left over at the end of the day, move them to the new list of six tasks for the following day.
Repeat every working day.
